Cut-and-paste music collages are fun ways to zone out and let
the subconscious sing. I use the program Acid, and I'll very
often take left-overs from other projects I've worked on or
random musical riffs or sometimes even recorded phone conversations
or bits of movies and television shows and use them as soundscapes
rather than songs. With the music collages it's not about writing
music, persay, it's about using the bits and pieces like paint
and seeing what images they form when spread across the canvas.
