This song represents two different aspects of my life: Marriage and growing up in Florida.

I was inspired to write this song after being able to listen to nothing but Songs:Ohia's "Didn't It Rain?" on an 11-hour solo driving trip from Maryland to Florida in 2003.

It was my first time visiting Maryland since I'd been moved by my family from there to Florida when I was almost 9. It was on that journey I had to face the fact that I could never go back to the place I remembered from childhood as being happy, and that the only place I had to return to was a place I knew I'd never be happy.

I guess I became a bit of a blank slate at that moment. I had to start over and find a place I could belong and, in my heart, call home.
